Submit a Candidate Questionnaire and seek the endorsement

of the GLBT Alliance of Santa Cruz County

Thinking for running for public office in Santa Cruz County? You should seek the GLBT Alliance's endorsement! Please contact us here, or email us at glbtalliance@yahoo.com and let us know about you, what work you have done and what you hope to accomplish if elected.

We will be converting our prior year candidate questionnaire to Survey Monkey, and distributing it to filed candidates on March 9, 2018. If you would like to contact us about endorsements prior to March 9, please do so at glbtalliance@yahoo.com.

We ask every candidate seeking our endorsement why they are seeking

the endorsement of Santa Cruz County’s grassroots LGBTQ political

organization, the GLBT Alliance? Here are some of their responses:

"I believe that it is important to have active LGBTQ organizations to surface issues and advocate for change. Also, we are currently in a time when our society is actively engaged in discussion and revision of assumptions and restrictions around gender and sexuality, emerging from too long a time of avoiding or suppressing that discussion. I believe it is especially crucial now that there be a strong political voice for LGBTQ folks, to advance rights and respect and also to counter backlash. So, it would be an honor to receive the Alliance's endorsement."

Santa Cruz County Board of Education Trustee, Bruce Van Allen

"I would be honored to receive the endorsements of the Santa Cruz County GLBT Alliance. I believe that there is still much work to be done in ensuring equal rights for all LGBTQ Americans and I will do all that I can to contribute to those efforts. I am seeking this endorsement to show my support for the LGBTQ community and to bring attention to the important work being done for equality. "

Capitola City Councilmember Kristen Petersen

"I have a history of working with and supporting the LGBT community. The office of the Sheriff represents all community members and I want to support, protect and represent everyone in our County. I would be honored to carry this endorsement."
